New York: Pocket Books, The caravans of humans I pass - they look to me to save them. Only I am not the witch I once was. Rowan might be the firstborn of the Whelan sisters, but her magic is far from first class. Even more seriously when her sisters are endangered and they lose - yet again - the book of Sindal, a magical tome of evil spells and incantations their small coven of three has been tasked to protect.
So rather than wait to be cornered We have to assemble enough power in the magical world to rip the Guild off of their high horse. Except, shifters and vampires would rather kill each other than work together. And after a surprise run-in with a strangely powerful goblin, my world is slapped sideways.
I recommend everyone to read them. Every character is always able to get just what they need and never pay for it or they always have the right amount of money or more than enough. The romantic arc quite steamy, incidentally was one of my favorite parts. They live in deliberate isolation, under the watchful eye of the Archmage. So far, wonderful story, wonderfully told. So without any further ado, here are our recommendations, beginning with Ursula Le Guin. But nothing last for ever.
Her sister is dying, her secret boyfriend, James Malcolm, is struggling to protect the county underworld from an upstart drug dealer, and her ex has moved back to town with a bee in his bonnet and a mission to root out corruption in the county. After narrowly surviving my debut into the magical world, I made a promise to myself: no more hiding in broom closets. But with the Mages' Guild reorganizing faster than anyone thought possible, and naming me as their number one target, that promise seems a little far-fetched.
Especially since my training with Callie and Dizzy, the highly experienced dual-mage pair, goes off like a cake in a cannon. Left to find someone that can fill the role, it isn't until a formal dinner party goes horribly wrong that I find the best and worst solution imaginable: Reagan Somerset, the leather-clad crazy woman who busted into my broom closet sanctuary in the first place.

I thought the threat from Seattle was finished. That we showed up in time and took care of business.
I hate being wrong. It really ruins my day. When Roger, the alpha of the North American pack, shows up at my door with the news that a demon has made it to the Underworld with knowledge of me, some hard decisions have to be made. Do I stay above ground, with all my magical friends, and wait for the battle to come to me? Or do I seek the demon out, and pluck the threat out by the root? I don't want my friends to die on my behalf. The killings that once plagued New Orleans are cropping up again in Seattle. The local office is stumped. I'm called out to lend a fresh set of eyes and my unique magical touch.
It's only when I get there that I realize the Seattle office isn't stumped at all. They're being silenced by the Mages' Guild, a corrupt magical institution that doesn't want word to get out of what is plaguing the city. Worse, news of my magic might've slipped down to the underworld, hitting the ears of some extremely powerful demons. For centuries the gods have waited - for the betrayal that will release them, for the traitors who will defend them, for the warrior who will challenge them. Now at long last the gate between the human and spirit worlds is open, and with it, an army of vengeful demons poised to swarm the earth.
Only the Curse Keepers, Ellie Lancaster and Collin Dailey, can stop it…if they can break free from a tangled web of treachery, jealousy, and lies. For more than four hundred years, the Curse Keepers guarded the barrier between the human and spirit realms.
All that changed the day Ellie Lancaster met Collin Dailey. Prophecy demanded they defend the world from evil…even as it ignited a passion that threatened to consume them both. Now Ellie faces a frightening new life, abandoned by the man she loves and tormented by malevolent spirits unleashing their vengeance upon the earth. And I thought that nothing could be worse than what I faced there. Just my black cat bad luck, the world is set to prove me wrong. The further south we go, the more danger comes not only from outside our group but from within.
Marsum, leader of the Jinn.
And the emperor himself. All three want something from me. All three claim they can give me the world on a silver platter, to give me my deepest desires. The Sugarland Express carries history and nostalgia in every compartment, and Verity is determined to enjoy it - without ghostly interference. Just when Piper begins to accept her new role as demon slayer, a fresh threat rises.
